Podcast: You Can’t Automate Personality with Chris Lusk

In this episode of Connection Loop, Dubb founder Ruben Dua sits down with Chris Lusk. Chris and Ruben share their thoughts on automation and how you can properly leverage automation in social media and your business. Some of the insights and ideas that you’ll hear in this episode include:
  • While you can automate certain menial tasks, you cannot automate connections. You can’t automate things like empathy and genuineness. Because of this, you should not only avoid doing so, but embrace your personality and authenticity when trying to connect with others.
  • Sometimes, it is better to target fewer prospects than more prospects. By targeting fewer prospects, you can add a personalized touch to your communications. You can add more meaningful things in your correspondence, thereby increasing your chances of making the sale or conversion.
  • There is nothing stopping you from using an automation program to find LinkedIn connections, but you should do so strategically. Don’t try to send the same message to thousands of people en masse. Instead, at least leverage some filtering tools to see their interests and recent activity on LinkedIn.
  • One personalized message can replace thousands (or even tens of thousands) of cold emails. Cold email open and conversion rates are incredibly low, while sending a LinkedIn connection request and personalized video can substantially improve your conversion rate.
  • When reaching out to large companies, it is often better to not pitch the CEO. Instead of that, try to find a decisionmaker that is a few rungs down the ladder. Doing this, you’ll have a better chance of winning a new account.

This is a great conversation for entrepreneurs, marketers, salespeople, and anyone hoping to understand how to properly leverage automation. Enjoy the conversation!
